  • 2    Oval Scroll Bezel    (94-2575-12)
  • 2    Open Crescent Moon Charm    (94-2107-70)
  • 2    French Hook Ear Wire, Reg Loop    (90-8170-01)
  • 2    Oval Jump Ring 20ga, 4x3mm ID    (01-0018-01)
  • Polymer Clay (Sculpey Premo in Galaxy Glitter shown)
  • Crystal Chatons (PP9 1.5-1.6mm shown)

Tools

  • chain nose pliers (2)
  • sharp nose tweezers
  • ruler
  • push pin or beading awl
  • craft designated toaster oven
  • optional: cotton swab

Tip: Polymer clay is very beginner friendly, but some experiece is helpful with this project. Use a constellation or make your own crystal pattern.

Steps

  1. Make two: Create a ball of polymer clay approximately 11mm across. (Fig 1) Roll into a slight oval shape and begin to press into one bezel from the back.

  2. Press clay into the bezel to create a dome on the front side. (Fig 2 and Fig 3)

  3. Use fingers to press and shape the clay so it fits well in the bezel and has good contact across the back. Use a plastic scraper to shave clay off back if necessary, and a cotton swab to smooth and clean edge as desired. (Fig 4)

  4. Use push pin or awl to make a small hole* at each point of the pattern or constellation. *Not a big or deep hole - just enough to mark the space for the chaton. (Fig 5)

  5. Use tweezers to place one chaton into each hole. Gently press each chaton lightly but securely into clay. (Fig 6) Hold finger on clay at back for resistance. Reshape dome as necessary and use cotton swab to smooth out fingerprints, etc.

  6. Follow polymer clay instructions carefully to bake pendants (approximately 45 minutes at 275 degrees). Allow to cool before using.
  7. Open one jump ring and attach to bottom of one crescent charm. Before closing add loop of one bezel charm. Close jump ring.
  8. Open loop of one ear wire and attach to top of crescent charm. Close jump ring.
  9. Repeat Steps 7-8 for second earring.
