Since the introduction of our cast pewter products line in 1991, TierraCast has strived to use both the highest quality pewter and the best plating practices available to produce a product line that is both attractive and safe to use.
To that end, currently we require that our suppliers provide us with a pewter alloy called Britannia that contains lead in the minute level of less than 100 ppm. In addition, we have confirmed the cadmium content of our metal is even less, at under 40 ppm. We also provide several finishes in our cast products that follow the EU guidelines for nickel compliance.
An independent, CPSIA certified laboratory, test of both cadmium and lead in each of our metal receipts is conducted on a regular basis. That information is available in a Table of Metal Receipts on this web site. Certified copies of those results are available upon request.
